·
An easy sample test, provided free of charge, will establish
whether the cause of the complaints is due to the state of
the data.
·
The sample test will also uncover faulty computers whose users
have not issued complaints.
·
The test will likewise identify users nearing this situation
but whose performance can be readily improved. In these cases
the software that restructures the data can be automatically
activated by remote.
Organization personnel likely to show an interest in the
LaceWatcher-PRO software:
·
Financial directors:
It enables controlled upgrading of computers rather than the
accepted method of non-selective across-the-board
replacement of computers according to number of years in
service. This would bring about an immediate reduction in
expenses, and a positive user-reaction through not
needing to suspend regular activity due to replacement or
upgrading.
·
Maintenance managers:
By preparing time-scheduled work programs for technicians,
rather than according to service calls. It would also enable
work- distribution planning during times of reduced calls
for service.
·
IT Managers:
The presentation of an overall organizational situation
report by functions would enable location and segmentation
of operational problems. It would be a valuable managerial
tool and enhance the ability to fulfill service agreements
with clients.
·
Business Development Managers in companies providing
maintenance and communication services:
It would provide a marketing advantage and an additional
service, in particular where the cost of upgrading computers
is the responsibility of the service provider.
Method:
·
The
software is based on a unique statistical analysis of
situation reports in surveyed computer-disks and servers.
·
The
software is installed in only one of the organization's
computers (in a server or a workstation) and does not
require a separate computer.
·
Once
installed, the software does not require the intervention of
an operator, and sends alerts only in exceptional
situations.
·
Installing and uninstalling the software is a simple, safe
operation.
·
The
software examines the location and distribution of data on
the disk but does not scan their content.
The
LaceWatcher-PRO software has been developed to enable
large companies to apply a preventive maintenance system to
its computers, and through it, to achieve a significant
saving by extending the life-span of PC's, laptops and
servers. By optimizing the maintenance process, a
substantial computer-performance improvement is obtained
while preventing the familiar slow-down in aging computers,
thereby enhancing user-satisfaction.
The basic
technology that evaluates the computer's disorder level and
its correlation with computer performance level was released
in 2006 with Lacelevel2 software and distributed via
Google and Microsoft. The aim of this software was to
collect data and examine the possibility of predicting the
decline-rate in computer-performance resulting from a fall
in data-quality. The examination does not relate to cases
in which the slow-down is not caused by data disorder and
location on the disk.
The software is
currently installed in 300,000 private and business users
employing Microsoft operating systems. Analyzing results in
100,000 recurring users from all sectors confirms the basic
assumption and shows that:
1.
75%
of users (The green area) in the sample do not encounter work slow-down
symptoms due to disk fragmentation. This fact explains the
apathy of users towards the phenomenon.

2.
About
10% of users (The red area) suffer from acute computer
slowdown manifestations which cannot be treated by
activating the application which reorganizes
(defragment) the stored data.
In this case, a technician's intervention is required or,
alternatively, a full computer replacement
3.
15% of
users (Yellow) are in an advanced stage heading towards No. 2 above –
but as yet are unaware of the slowdown potential so
characteristic of this stage. Local maintenance by
activating defragmentation should help in delaying decline
into this irreversible state.
Working Assumptions:
·
Analysis
of the feedback results (covering 100,000 cases as against
5,000 in regular surveys of this type) shows that in 10% of
the cases covered, computers with a significant slowdown can
be positively identified.
·
Because
of the normal distribution of the results, it is reasonable to
assume that the opposite situation also holds, and in
organizations where around 10% of users complain of work
slowdown, it can be assumed that the general global
distribution of sample results of the study will apply to them
as well.
·
If this
assumption is correct, then No 3 above, in which another 15%
who have not yet complained about performance slowdown in the
same organization, are next-in-line candidates for
performance-decline – and it is therefore clearly worthwhile
installing LaceWatcher-PRO to manage the situation.
